It is with deep sorrow that the Belgian Society of Cardiology learns of the Ukrainian crisis in the heart of Europe. The BSC has remained committed to scientific and educational co-operation both within Belgium and to the wider Cardiology community, with the aim to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease.
The BSC condemns the unwarranted and indiscriminate military aggression by the leadership of the Russian Federation against the Ukraine. In support of all people caught up in this crisis, the BSC urges all parties to find a political solution to the aggression with the aim to cease all conflict and find a lasting solution. The BSC support calls to ensure humanitarian and medical aid can reach those who need it, regardless of allegiance.
For those who would like to contribute, we suggest that you consider donating to organisations which maintain relief efforts to help civilians in regions of conflict and refugees, such as UNHCR and ICRC.
