Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to the 45th Annual Congress of the Belgian Society of Cardiology, the most important scientific cardiology event in Belgium. This congress brings together cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular specialists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals interested in cardiovascular diseases from across the country.
This year’s theme is Building Belgium’s Cardiovascular Future Together. In December 2024 the EU-council called upon the member states to take measures to prevent cardiovascular diseases, the leading cause of death in the European Union. The council wants to improve cardiovascular health in the EU, through prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation.
Also, the Belgian federal government puts forward in the coalition agreement that it, together with the regions, will draw up a new action plan on cardiovascular diseases to detect and treat cardiovascular disease in a timely manner, using a comprehensive approach in which everyone fully assumes their authority to achieve joint health objectives. It is therefore very important that the European and Belgian scientific cardiovascular community contributes actively and constructively to these plans. During our congress we will address key actions to ensure Belgians will have a healthier cardiovascular future.
Building on the success of previous years, this year’s congress once again features a comprehensive programme designed to engage and educate professionals across the cardiology field. We are privileged to have an outstanding faculty of both international and national speakers who present the latest advances in clinical cardiovascular care and scientific cardiovascular research.
Highlights of the upcoming congress include:
– RIZIV/INAMI accredited scientific sessions
– FANC accredited radiation session
– Keynote lecture on the national health strategy in Belgium
– Joint BSC-ESC guideline session
– Specialised sessions covering various cardiac subspecialties, including heart failure, acute cardiology, arrhythmia, invasive cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, cardiovascular research, and cardiovascular prevention
– Abstract and poster presentations
– Short presentations presenting outstanding Belgian publications in the European Heart Journal Family and Acta Cardiologica
– Awards ceremony celebrating young investigators and laureates of prizes sponsored by the Belgian Heart Foundation and the Fund for Cardiac Surgery
– Hands-on training session
– Specialised sessions tailored for nurses and allied healthcare professionals
Additionally, the congress will host several satellite symposia and scientific exhibitions by our industry partners, keeping you informed on the latest developments in cardiovascular drug development and technological innovation.
This annual congress is an exceptional opportunity to network with colleagues and share valuable experiences. We encourage you to take an active role in the upcoming BSC Congress 2026, as we unite the community of all healthcare professionals involved in cardiovascular care.
