Belgian Heart Foundation
The Belgian Heart Foundation (BHF) was established in 2018 under the umbrella of the Belgian Society of Cardiology (BSC). Its mission is to promote cardiovascular research and education with the ultimate goal of improving the care and outcomes of patients with cardiovascular diseases. Although Belgium has significant potential in cardiovascular research, greater efforts are still needed to support and promote this vital field—especially in the face of persistent funding challenges.
Just as cancer research has successfully captured public and governmental attention, the BHF aims to elevate cardiovascular disease to a similar level of awareness among health authorities and the general public.
To fulfill this mission, the BHF awards prizes, research funding, and educational grants.

The League targets both the general public and individuals affected by cardiovascular conditions, including their families. Its prevention efforts focus on raising awareness through educational campaigns about cardiovascular risk factors and diseases, as well as organising public screening sessions across the country.
Directories of patient clubs and revalidation centres are available on its website.
