Prof. Stefano Barco, MD, PhD, FESC, is Deputy Director and Senior Attending Physician in Angiology at University Hospital Zurich and a visiting scientist at the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis in Mainz.

He trained in internal medicine, vascular medicine, and endovascular interventions in Pavia, Amsterdam, and Zurich.

His clinical and research work focuses on arterial and venous vascular disease, particularly venous thromboembolism, supported by major Swiss and German research grants.

He has authored or co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and holds leadership roles within ESC and ISTH scientific groups. He has received multiple international research awards and serves in editorial roles for several leading thrombosis and vascular medicine journals.
