Pragmatic risk markers in cardiovascular care

This issue of Acta Cardiologica is devoted to several important and rapidly evolving areas of cardiovascular medicine, including acute coronary care, the early diagnosis of myocardial infarction, heart failure and congestion, conduction system disease, valvular and aortic disease, and pulmonary embolism. In line with previous issues of this series, the studies published share a common thread: the search for pragmatic, readily available markers, whether pharmacological, electrocardiographic, biochemical or imaging-based, that can translate into better-informed clinical decisions at the bedside.
