The Belgian Society of Cardiology (BSC) is seeking dedicated professionals to join the newly created Gender Task Force for the upcoming 2026–2028 term.
Our mission is to:
- Identify knowledge gaps and initiate (multicenter) research focused on gender-related differences in epidemiology and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases
- Identify and eliminate systemic biases and institutional barriers that limit women’s full participation in cardiovascular medicine
- Ensure that sex and gender considerations are integrated into clinical practice, research, and advocacy.
Tasks
- Define the role of the Task Force within the BSC and key priorities.
- Develop and support education on sex- and gender-sensitive cardiology for healthcare professionals in training and continuing education.
- Increase awareness about gender bias in diagnosis, treatment, and research, and implementing concrete actions through awareness campaigns.
- Develop and execute strategies and initiatives to tackle gender inequality in the cardiology profession.
- Engage in regular meetings (approx. 4/year).
- Represent BSC in the ESC Gender task force
Tenure
These new members will be assigned for the period of 2 years.
