Belgian Society of Cardiology

The Belgian Society of Cardiology (BSC) is seeking dedicated professionals to join the newly created Gender Task Force for the upcoming 2026–2028 term. 

Our mission is to:

  • Identify knowledge gaps and initiate (multicenter) research focused on gender-related differences in epidemiology and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases
  • Identify and eliminate systemic biases and institutional barriers that limit women’s full participation in cardiovascular medicine
  • Ensure that sex and gender considerations are integrated into clinical practice, research, and advocacy.


Tasks

  • Define the role of the Task Force within the BSC and key priorities.
  • Develop and support education on sex- and gender-sensitive cardiology for healthcare professionals in training and continuing education.
  • Increase awareness about gender bias in diagnosis, treatment, and research, and implementing concrete actions through awareness campaigns.
  • Develop and execute strategies and initiatives to tackle gender inequality in the cardiology profession.
  • Engage in regular meetings (approx. 4/year).
  • Represent BSC in the ESC Gender task force


Tenure

These new members will be assigned for the period of 2 years.

  • Applicants will be selected by the Board.
