The BSC, together with the ESC, fully supports the EU pharmaceutical reform, which we view as a historic opportunity to ensure timely access to safe and effective medicines while promoting innovation.
However, we are concerned that certain elements of the current proposals could restrict the crucial contribution of healthcare professionals.
In our letter to Minister Vandenbroucke, we highlighted the need for systematic involvement of healthcare professionals, a clear definition of unmet medical needs, and full transparency in research funding to ensure that scientific advances translate into tangible patient benefits.
