We are formally contesting the new Royal Decree regarding ergospirometry nomenclature 🚫.
The Issue: The new regulations mandate arterial blood gas sampling as a requirement for reimbursement. This is an invasive procedure, that carries risks such as pain, hematoma, and thrombosis.
Our Stance:
- Lack of Evidence: International guidelines do not support routine arterial sampling for standard exercise tests.
- Patient Risk: Forcing an invasive procedure without clinical necessity is disproportionate and potentially harmful.
- Financial discrimination: Refusal of an unnecessary invasive procedure cannot cost patients their reimbursement
- Quality First: We support fighting abuse, but quality care must be based on science, not just budget cuts.
As BSC we will do everything we can to change the legislation and protect our patients.
